We are back with another weekly reporting round-up! We missed a week, but hope you’ve been keeping up-to-date with our reporting. From Oct. 12-19, TtS published five pieces on topics like the DMV-to-DHS pipeline, an upcoming Seattle City Council meeting where organizers plan to speak about Trans lives lost, and tons of photos. Let’s crack into it!
UWCHR examines DMV-to-DHS pipeline in four states and highlights four loopholes

The University of Washington’s Center for Human Rights (UWCHR) released a new report on Oct. 13, highlighting how agencies in four different states are sharing vehicle information for the feds to carry out immigration enforcement activities. It stated that the new rise in arrests can primarily be attributed to state Departments of Motor Vehicles (DMV), with Latino men working in construction and landscaping being the most targeted. Despite sanctuary laws, UWCHR said Washington must immediately act to stop aiding in the terrors being carried out against immigrant communities.
“In multiple cases confirmed by UWCHR, queries performed by CBP ORIs preceded arrests carried out by ICE arrest teams, suggesting that, in fact, ICE continues to access Washingtonians’ DOL data, either by logging into Nlets/ACCESS under CBP ORIs, or asking CBP to conduct searches on their behalf,” according to the report.

Grassroots organizers encourage sharing stories of Trans lives lost at upcoming Seattle City Council meeting

Grassroots organizers are encouraging community members to attend the Seattle City Council meeting on Oct. 20, at 1:30 p.m. to share stories of the lives of Transgender people who have died. This effort comes as the Trump regime continues to rollback the rights of Transgender people, and as Washingtonians will vote on two anti-Trans ballot initiatives this Nov.
“Share your suffering so that maybe your name won’t be counted amongst them,” a flyer shared with TtS stated.
The grassroots organizers’ ask for community members to attend the council meeting to provide remarks on Trans lives lost also comes during LGBTQ+ History Month.

Thousands of people marched through Seattle for the Oct. 17 No Kings protest. Pro-Palestine chants rang through the streets, as did chants of democrats and republicans being one in the same. Some marching also talked about how voting is not enough to stop this fascist regime.
