A mother and her seven-month-old baby were attending an immigration check-in on April 27 in Seattle when ICE kidnapped them. Community members are now demanding Helen Ojeda and her child be immediately released, and for officials to announce the location they are currently being held at.
The baby is a U.S. citizen and Ojeda was born in Venezuela. Their whereabouts are unknown as of April 28. Community members are encouraging the public to call and email Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell. Ojeda’s A Number is 249077381.
“ICE needs to know that the people of Washington oppose the disappearing and detention of our neighbors, and opposes the way that ICE uses the detention of children in mixed status families to coerce families into separating or deporting,” Superfamilia said.
