Trigger-happy ICE agents shoot Portland, OR couple

Trigger-happy ICE agents shoot Portland, OR couple
January 8, 2026

By Hannah Saunders

At about 2:34 p.m. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agent Andrew Torres reported to 911 that federal agents shot a man twice and his wife, who was sitting in is car next to him, once. Their condition is unknown and they drove away. Torres reported that the victim was attempting to run ICE agents over with their car, which is the same narrative that was used yesterday when ICE murdered Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Portland Police said officers responded to the shooting on the 10200 block of Southeast Main Street and verified that federal agents shot two people. Officers then responded to a call from the male victim stating he was shot and required aid near Northeast 146th Ave and East Burnside. Responding officers applied a tourniquet and the victims were transported to a nearby hospital.

“We are still in the early stages of this incident,” Chief Bob Day said. “We understand the heightened emotion and tension many are feeling in the wake of the shooting in Minneapolis, but I am asking the community to remain calm as we work to learn more.”

Portland’s mayor, Keith Wilson, issued a statement in response to this afternoon’s shooting, describing it as a “troubling” incident, and demanded ICE end its activities in the city until a thorough investigation is completed.

“We cannot sit by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed mounts. Portland is not a “training ground” for militarized agents, and the “full force” threatened by the administration has deadly consequences,” Mayor Wilson said.

Mayor Wilson reiterated what Chief Day said, encouraging citizens to remain calm during a distressing situation.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees both CBP and ICE, also issued a statement and said Border Patrol agents were engaging in a vehicle stop.

At 2:19 PST, US Border Patrol agents were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon. The passenger of the vehicle and target is a Venezuelan illegal alien affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and involved in a recent shooting in…

During a media briefing, a reporter asked Chief Day if Tren de Aragua is active in Portland, to which he responded, “I don’t have any information that would link that at this time. No.”
