We’re bringing you another weekly reporting round-up! From September 15-21, we published six articles on topics like the UW 33 avoiding trespassing charges, the Washington State Investment Board investing public employee pensions in companies complicit in genocide, protesters demanding the City of Seattle cut ties with Israel, and more. Let’s catch you up on what you may have missed!
Pro-Palestinian protesters arrested on UW in 2025 avoid trespassing charges
Criminal cases against 23 students and ten non-students who were arrested during a 2025 pro-Palestinian occupation at the University of Washington (UW) are moving toward dismissal, according to the group, known as the UW33. Those arrested have entered a Stipulated Order of Continuance, a pre-trial diversion agreement which will allow trespassing charges to be dismissed if students adhere to the agreement.
“The UW33 update is proof that despite the intense repression the Palestine movement is facing across the country and around the world, community defense works and it is possible to fight repression and win,” Noah Weight of Super UW told TtS.
Several of the UW33 experienced severe injuries from arrests by the UW Police Department, the Seattle Police Department, and the Washington State Patrol. These injuries include permanent nerve damage, concussions, bruising, and torn ligaments that required surgery.

Cut Ties With Genocide’s petition demands Washington State Investment Board divest from companies profiting off U.S. and Israeli genocide in Palestine
Cut Ties With Genocide, a Washington-led movement steered by Washington For Peace and Justice and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), has launched a petition demanding that the Washington State Investment Board (WSIB) divest from placing holdings with companies that profit from the U.S. and Israeli-led genocide in Palestine. This petition has been active for about one year, and comes as the board denied several workers from providing public comment at its Sept. 17 meeting, who signed-up to demand that the Board invest their pensions responsibly to help create a better world.
Cut Ties With Genocide stated that WSIB is actively investing in Palantir, the GEO Group, the Israeli weapons company Elbit Systems, and others. At the same time, Cut Ties With Genocide emphasized how the Board divested $100 million from Russian companies in 2022, following its invasion of Ukraine.

Seattle Against War brings attention to 200 days of U.S. and Israel’s war in Iran and demands end to suffering and destruction
Seattle Against War (SAW) organized a protest at Pike Place Market on Sept. 16, to bring attention to 200 days of the U.S. and Israel’s war on Iran, which was part of a national day of action by the Anti-War Action Network. About 45 people were in attendance, waving various flags and signs that read, “Feed the Hungry,” and “Hands Off Palestine and Iran! No Blood for Oil.” Speakers emphasized the ongoing harm and destruction the war has caused.
“This violence is not inevitable,” one speaker said into the microphone. “We can change this! And not only because we are organizing, but because our history and our ancestors have already shown us how. Imperialism is not just bombs, mass graves, systemic rape, forced starvation, and sanctions.”

Pro-Palestinian protesters disrupt Seattle Sister Cities Street Fair and demand the City cut ties with Be’er Sheva
“Not another nickel, not another dime! No more money for Israel’s crimes!” was chanted by three pro-Palestinian protesters as Mayor Katie Wilson provided the proclamation for the Seattle Sister Cities Street Fair on Sept. 19, which is an event that celebrated international culture and friendship. One of Seattle’s 20 sister cities is Be’er Sheva in historically-occupied Palestine, and this relationship has been active since 1977, with the Seattle-Be’er Sheva Sister City Association working to foster relationships in government, technology, medicine, business, arts, science, and education.
“I believe that we can maintain connections with people and with culture, even as we abhor the actions of a government,” Mayor Wilson said.

Seattle Handmaids hold large demonstration at Pike Place Market to emphasize global and local oppression
Wearing their infamous red robes and white bonnets, an estimated 33 Seattle Handmaids held a silent demonstration at Pike Place Market on the cloudy day of Sept. 19. This is the latest event by the group, which raises awareness about the oppression of women and girls, and has been bringing attention to disturbing Washington state initiatives brought forth by Let’s Go Washington, one of which includes invasive genital exams for girls in sports.
A member of the group who was not wearing Handmaid attire distributed papers to people at the market, including an Equal Rights Amendment petition, information about the Washington Handmaid Coalition, a handout from the National Organization for Women on how people can get involved, and information on Seattle’s Gender Equality Movement.

Nude wrestling event for Queer men on Sept. 26 allows for the exploration of masculinity
Seattle’s Kink Center, located at 814 E Pike St., will host the first “Modern Palaestra: Nude Wrestling for Queer Men,” event on Sept. 26 beginning at 8 p.m., which is inspired by all-men’s spaces in ancient Greece where people wrestled and engaged in physical training and development. Saturday’s event will be dedicated towards masculine expression, and sexual empowerment and embodiment for LGBTQ+ men.
“I think spaces for masculine expression are important, especially for Queer men. Sometimes, I feel like masculinity gets frowned on, even within LGBTQ spaces. I want to champion men finding their own way of expressing it. An affinity space where we can wrestle, compete, play, and explore what masculinity looks like for each of us,” Ben Gibson, organizer, told TtS.
