Meet Kai, Seattle’s protest-loving parrot

Meet Kai, Seattle’s protest-loving parrot
March 1, 2026

By Hannah Saunders

Did you know there’s a parrot in Seattle that loves protests?

Kai is 44 years old and loves the sound and energy of Seattle protests. Her owner, who strictly goes by “Kai’s mom,” rescued her when she was 10.

Kai’s mom told TtS that parrots can live to be 100 years old at the Hands Off Iran protest at Pike Place Market on February 28.

In between all of Saturday’s activities, the vibrant and beloved bird drew attention from most people who passed by, with Kai’s mom willingly allowing several to hold her on their arms.

Next time you see Kai, say hi!

Happy Pride Month! We've slowed down coverage this week to decompress, but we've got an abundance of articles on our website, ThroughtheStatic.org (link in bio), so go and give them a read! This past sunny Sunday, dozens of concerned community members gathered at Gas Works Park to protest weapons manufacturer, Anduril Industries, which is building military drones in the Lake Washington Ship Canal. With some on land and others on about 11 kayaks, demonstrators denounced the genocide in Palestine and the war in Iran, which they said Anduril is complicit in. On land and water, Seattle activists are currently protesting weapons manufacturer, Anduril, which is building drones in the ship canal. Spotted on The Ave (University Way NE) in Seattle's U-District Seattle activists are holding a rally on Sunday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m., to educate community members about weapons manufacturer, Anduril, building drones in the ship canal. The bald man in a baseball cap, puffy vest, t-shirt, and blue jeans was captured using a razorblade to remove a Trans solidarity protest flyer, as captured by Trans members of the community. This took place across from the Capitol Hill Light Rail Station, on Broadway and John in Seattle.
