🗞 Read the full article at ThroughtheStatic.org, and please consider becoming a monthly donor. We are working towards paying our talented independent journalists and photographers for all that they do for TtS, and we are entirely community funded! We will bring you more news featuring Hoffman and UW shortly. Please consider subscribing to our newsletter at ThroughtheStatic.org so the article directly reaches your inbox! In December, Washington state and D.C., and 20 other states sued the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) because the Trump regime once again targeted Trans youth and their oftentimes lifesaving healthcare. This came after HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a “declaration” and falsely claimed that some gender-affirming care procedures are ineffective and unsafe. And on March 19, a federal court said it would rule in favor of the states.  Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, who has pegged herself as a socialist, has a swarm of frustrated constituents who voted her into office, who are pushing back against her video-camera surveillance tactics. Many have demanded she turn off surveillance cameras to protect community members from being tracked and subsequently kidnapped by DHS, and at a March 19 briefing, the mayor announced that she will pause a CCTV pilot program, but added that new video cameras will be installed. 🚨 @superfamilia_kc is outside Centro de la Raza ("Centro de la Ratta"), who kicked them out for passing out flyers related to ICE and the WA DOL. Sexist remarks were also being thrown. SPD put up tape to prevent undocumented community members and advocates for getting inside or near the facility. 🚨 @superfamilia_kc needs bodies at El Centro de la Raza NOW. One undocumented community member was passing out flyers at Gov. Bob Ferguson's anti-ICE bills signing, and they called the Seattle Police. Superfamilia reported sexist remarks being thrown their way, too.
