Three Percenter at Sean Feucht concert identified as rabbi Hylan Slobodkin

The man wearing a Three Percenter t-shirt with the words “Liberty” on the front at Christian fascist Sean Feucht’s August 30 concert in Gas Works Park has been identified as Hylan Slobodkin, 78. Slobodkin is a rabbi at the Beit Tikvah Messianic Congregation in Newcastle.

He and his wife (also pictured) Rita, 75, joined the congregation in 1996. They lived in Haifa, Israel, and lead tours in Israel. Rita’s social media posts include support for Israel and disregard for Palestinians, and otherwise, the pair isn’t too political on social media. They are based in Renton, WA.

Three Percenters are a militia group, and some were involved in the January 6 insurrection.

“They believe a small force of armed individuals can overthrow a tyrannical government, and many Three Percenters engage in paramilitary training and organizing to do so. Three Percentism is at its core a vanguard extremist movement that claims to be ready to carry out armed resistance to perceived tyranny,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). “Their perceptions of tyranny emanate from the radical conspiracy theories and paranoia rooted in the decades-old antigovernment extremist movement, and have repeatedly led to violence against America’s law enforcement, citizens, and residents.”

The Three Percenter movement sprouted in 2008 by propagandist Mike Vanderboegh after President Barack Obama was elected. The militia group has been active in Washington state, and have attended rallies and events alongside the Proud Boys and Veterans on Patrol in Spokane in 2024, according to SPLC.

Many Three Percenters are active or retired military and law enforcement personnel, but since many are Trump supporters, the Anti Defamation League said they haven’t been as active in rejecting the federal government, and have directed “their ire at other perceived foes, including leftists/antifa, Muslims and immigrants.”
